The tour
We were warmly invited into Matthew’s studio and he gave us a full tour of his workspace. It was immediately evident how purposeful and curated the space was. Ed and Matthew touched on key aspects they wanted to accomplish in the collaboration.
filming content
After introductions, a delicious cup of espresso made by our gracious host, and chatting overview, we set up to film. The first item was to record a multiple-hour podcast episode, then a 3-camera interview setup, with b-roll and BTS throughout the day. Day one was a wrap.
wrap up
Filming on day two was about filling in all of the narrative and content gaps left over from day one. We arrived in the studio in the morning and shot until right past sunset. Ed switched from the podcast setup of the FX3 and built out the RED for cinematic capture. Ed filmed sequences and b-roll, I shot more BTS, a 40-minute single take walkthrough, and then finished at golden hour with more footage.
